For example, a woman might get angry at her husband for coming home late or forgetting her birthday. She might tell him that he is in the doghouse. That means she may not treat him nicely until he says sorry. The last dog expression is used to describe the weather. The expression ―the dog days‖ means the hottest days of the year.
