sixteen-year-olds 相当于一个名词短语，sixteen-year-old 相当于一个形容词，后加s表同一类型的人。
Allow “允许，准许”其常用结构为：allow doing sth. ;allow sb. to do sth.;be allowed to do sth.“被允许做某事”

2.Sixteen-year-olds should be allowed to get their ears pierced.应该允许16岁的青少年打耳洞。
Get one’s ears pierced 意为“打耳洞”此处get 是使役用法，相当于make 或have，意为“使”、“让”。Get (have)+ 宾语+过去分词“结构，表示“使···被做”。

When are you going to get your hair ________ (cut) ?你打算什么时候去理发？
3.I regret talking back,not listening to Mom.我懊悔顶嘴了，没有听妈妈的话。
初中英语教学设计“regret doing sth.”指对做过事感到后悔。He regrets not working hard at school.______________________________________________
“regret to do sth.”指对要去做的事表示遗憾，后悔。I regret to have to do this,but i have no choice. __________________________________________
“regret +that 从句”对···感到遗憾，后悔。
我很遗憾你数学考试没及格。____________________________________
4.Only then will I have a chance to achieve my dream.只有这样，
我才有机会实现我的梦想。
Only “只，仅仅，才”。当句子以only 开头时，要发生部分倒装“only+副词\介词\短语从句+助动词\be动词\情态动词+主语+其它。如：Only by working hard can we succeed.只有努力工作，我们才能成功。（we can 倒装为can we)
